Our Team

Francois Wertheimer

Working in Asia for the last 18 years, Francois is the founding partner of Capital Asia Partners. Prior to Capital Asia Partners, he was Group CFO of a major diversified Asian conglomerate with businesses in oil and gas, retail and shopping malls, and property and construction. Francois was previously Head of Investment Banking at BNP Paribas for South East Asia, and he also served as a Managing Director of Corporate Finance at HSBC as well as CEO of HSBC Indonesia, based in Jakarta. Francois started his career in New York with JP Morgan and then was at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in London. Born and raised in France, Francois holds and MBA from Columbia University.

Ganesh Sabaratnam

Ganesh has 25 years’ experience in Investment Banking and Global Markets in Asia, London and the US. Prior to CAP he was at Barclays - Managing Director, Investment Banking South East Asia, and CEO of Barclays Malaysia. Prior to Barclays, he was Head of Investment Banking for Malaysia and Thailand at Credit Suisse. Ganesh started his career with Bank of America in London followed by San Francisco and Hong Kong. He then moved to Deutsche Bank as Head of Trading Short Term Rates and Bonds before going into Corporate Finance. Ganesh holds a M.Sc Financial Economics from University of London and BS in Engineering & Economics from University of Birmingham.  

Nigel Khoo

Nigel has over 20 years of experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking and Finance. Nigel began his career at KPMG in the UK before joining Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in Singapore in the Corporate Finance Division. He moved to UBS Capital in 2000 and then joined Macquarie Bank as Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance and Private Equity for South East Asia. He subsequently became CEO of Maybank Private Equity before being appointed as Partner for Saratoga Capital. Nigel graduated from Leeds University with a BA in Finance and Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW).  

Ted Teo

Ted brings with him a unique combination of investment banking, corporate banking, and private banking experience in Asia after spending 17 years with Citigroup, mostly in Greater China. Before joining Capital Asia Partners, Ted was the Managing Director of Citigroup in Beijing and Hong Kong, covering the global Corporate and Investment Banking business of Chinese state-owned enterprises and private sector corporates, and later the Investment Banking business of Citigroup Private Bank in Asia. He is a founder of Kerrywood Asia and a Regional Advisor at the International Brand Development Council of the China Advertising Association of Commerce. Ted holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore, and he is a member of the International Association of Coaching.

Vijay Tandon

Vijay is an energy-focused investment banker with 23 years of experience in Europe and Asia. Vijay began his career with BP and then worked for Marathon Oil, Saga Petroleum and Western Geophysical in a variety of senior business development and finance roles. Vijay then led Ambrian Capital's energy practice in London and is a founding partner of SVS Oil & Gas. Vijay graduated from Imperial College with an MSc in Petroleum Engineering and he also holds an MBA from Erasmus University.

Yelena Zemtsova

Yelena has 16 years of international experience in the financial services industry in the US, Europe and Asia. She brings a unique combination of financial PR, investment banking and wealth management experience. Prior roles include Head of Investor Relations at Asia Capital & Advisors and she is a founder of PR SQUARED Worldwide Eurasia Bridge. Previously, Yelena held several roles in wealth management and in corporate and financial advisory in Singapore and in fund management in Europe. She began her career in Financial and Operational Audit in the US and then in France. Yelena graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Memphis (USA) with an MBA in Finance and she is a member of the Singapore CFA Society.

Chan Boon Hui

Boon Hui has 20 years corporate finance and investment banking experience in Asia. Prior to founding Chancery Capital, Boon Hui held senior positions at the Rothschild Group in the US and in Singapore, before joining BNP Paribas as Regional Director for South East Asia. He also served as a Senior Banker in the investment banking division of OCBC. Presently, Boon Hui also acts as an independent director of several listed companies in Singapore and Malaysia. He graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in Law and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Cliff Chai

Cliff started his career as an engineer and spent more than 4 years in the construction and healthcare sectors before joining the corporate finance industry. Since then, he has clocked 8 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking, originating and executing both equity capital market and M&A transactions. Before joining Chancery Capital as an Executive Director, he was with OCBC Bank's investment banking division responsible for corporate finance and origination coverage. Cliff graduated from National University of Singapore with a B.Eng (hons) degree and is a CFA charter holder.

Pongsakorn Thiengtham

Pongsakorn has over 20 years experience in investment banking and corporate finance at leading international and Thai institutions such as UBS, Peregrine and Thanachart Capital. He also led  HSBC’s Investment Banking business in Thailand, and then subsequently served as President of Syrus Securities PCL. In the course of his career, Pongsakorn has advised on a number of major investments and M&A transactions by foreign companies in Thailand, and he has developed strong relationships with many of the leading local groups.

Frank Spann

Frank has 30 years international experience in the energy and natural resources industry in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. A founding partner of InvestEnergy Ltd, Frank began his career with Gulf Oil Corporation and Chevron, and he then joined Amoco as Vice President and Commercial Director for Central Asia. He then became Senior Vice President at Nations Energy before being appointed CEO of Markmore Energy, an Asia based oil and gas Exploration and Production company.
Mr Spann graduated from Harvard University with an M.A.L.D. in International Law and Finance.
